You are Welcome, Martha!

You are Welcome, Martha!
A couple of weeks ago I was in my hood on the Upper East Side of Manhattan enjoying a beautiful night with a friend and just as we were getting ready to leave, I bumped into Martha Stewart. Everyone that knows me, knows I am a complete Southern Bell and as soon as I saw her I threw my arms around her, gave her a big kiss on each cheek, and exclaimed that I am a total admirer of her. I think I startled her…actually, I KNOW I startled her, but she “went with it” as if we were old pals. The friend I was with made me realize that I probably went a little too far with my friendliness, and I’m sure I did. When I came into my office on the following Monday, I sent Martha a pair of Sunglasses and an Optical frame, along with a note apologizing for practically attacking her out of my shear excitement over meeting her. I never thought much about it again until today when a personal thank you note came in the mail from her.
We send our products to people all the time and rarely, if ever, do we receive a thank you. I can only imagine the letters and products that Martha receives, yet she made the effort to thank me, personally.
Martha…you have talent and character on every level. All the best to YOU and
Thank You, Martha!
Sincerely,
Cindy

5.0 out of 5 starsBetter than any high-end sunglasses,April 26, 2012

By C. Foley

I am a sunglasses snob and usually buy high-end because I need superior lenses for my problem/sensitive eyes. I can honestly say that these are the best frames AND lenses I’ve ever owned. These are not plastic (as many of the expensive brands are); rather, they are strong, solid acetate that don’t give way to the elements over time (ie, they don’t lose their shape or fit). Acetate means “greener” for the environment as well. I’ve done my homework; these lenses are top- notch. They fit well on my face, and I have a slightly narrow face. And yet they also fit beautifully on my friend, who has a rounder face. Since the frames are larger, they really block the light, even from the sides. Worth every penny!

5.0 out of 5 starsWonderful Glasses,June 22, 2012

By Margaret Jones (CONCORD, MA, US)

Sophisticated, finely crafted glasses. Subtle light chartreuse color. Lenses are not too dark but take away glare. Speedy service with a purple box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, I would recommend this item to a friend, 2/21/12

Alice + Olivia Fall 2012

JAMI  Velvet Eyewear
One of our favorite designers, Alice + Olivia, did not disappoint this season. Founder Stacey Bendet presented everything from sweet frilly dresses and floral prints to sequins and fur. Our yellow crystal Jami sunglasses would look great with this look!

Proenza Schouler Fall 2012

JOIE – Velvet Eyewear
Always the trendsetter, Proenza Schouler held nothing back last night. The designers featured boxy collared shirts, loose fitting pants, and plenty of black and white. This is one of our favorite looks from their Fall 2012 collection. Our black Joie cat eye sunglasses would be a perfect addition to this look!

Tips for Throwing Your Own Holiday Party

Chances are that you have already attended some holiday parties since the holidays have been in full swing for the past few weeks. Perhaps you have been to a few parties that you loved and perhaps you have attended a few not-so-great parties. But have you thrown a holiday party of your own yet? If not, here are a few simple tips to make your holiday party a success this year!

  • Gold is a beautiful color to utilize during the holidays. It works as a neutral along with all of your party decor, while also applying a dash of radiance.
  • Don’t get too complicated. A fabulous party shouldn’t be too cluttered or overly controlled. Choose a color theme, decide what kind of food you will serve and make it simple from there on out.
  • Our favorite holiday party secret? Go neutral. Use simple white dishes at your table setting. White dishes and serving ware are sweet and simple and match any and all party decorations.
  • What shape are your linens in? Before setting up your tables, make sure your linens are washed and in pristine condition. No one wants to sit at a table with linen that was stained from red wine last year.
  • Plan ahead and start setting up your decorations and buffet table in advance. This will give you ample time to see what you need and to identify what is and is not working.
  • Make yourself a list! Avoid constant trips to and from the store by making a comprehensive list of everything that you need for your party. This will keep you organized and save you time.
  • Add some sparkle to your buffet table and to the dining table. You can do this by laying some garland or sprinkling some confetti in the center of the table.
  • What food and desserts are you serving at your party? Set out the right kind of serving pieces that will be convenient for your guests and will also display your food beautifully.
  • Lastly, HAVE FUN! Don’t get bogged down with the stress of throwing a fabulous party. This should be fun for you AND your guests!

Do You Snood?

This in for fall — snoods are hot! And they are the best way to keep warm! So, what exactly is a snood? Snoods are loose circle shawls that keep your neck and head nice and toasty on cold, winter days. Basically a snood is an infinity scarf that has extra area to cover your head. A snood is versatile, allowing you to wear it over your head or to simply wear it as a scarf. And it’s the perfect addition to a cold-day, layered look in the city. This trend, dating clear back to the Middle Ages, and making another debut in the 1940’s, is a modern trend that is popping up in cold areas all over the country. Here are some snoods that are sure to keep you warm, fashionable and chic during the cold winter months ahead.
